Learn about the history of two iconic Haitian art forms: drapo Vodou (Voodoo Flags) and fer decoupe (steel drum sculpture) and the role of art as an economic development tool in Haiti.
Instructor: Laurie Beasley.
Laurie Beasley has been visiting Haiti and studying its art and culture for the past 14 years. She runs Ridge Art, an on-line gallery specializing in Haitian art. She has curated shows and spoken about Haitian art around the United States.
