Nicole Hollander, Author and Creator of Sylvia Comic Strip

Oak Park Public Library

Thursday October 7, 2010
7 to 9 p.m.

Nicole Hollander, creator of the "Sylvia" comic strip in 1979, will bring her new book "The Sylvia Chronicles: 30 Years of Graphic Misbehavior from Reagan to Obama" to the Oak Park Public Library.

Charting 30 years of fashion, food, sexual mores, and political hypocrisy, "The Sylvia Chronicles" is nothing less than a fun house mirror of our times. The program is free and open to the public.

Nationally syndicated cartoonist Nicole Hollander has channeled her wit and sharp sensibilities through the incomparable and irascible Sylvia, a Chicago original. Sylvia’s hilarious commentary on American life has won over millions of loyal readers. Self-appointed pundit (on issues that range from health care reform to caffeinated beverages), cat-lover, and ardent feminist, Sylvia has provided America with a much-needed weekly dose of political and personal sanity.

Nicole Hollander books will be for sale by The Book Table and the author will provide authographs.

Oak Park artist and gallery owner, Janice Elkins is a long-time friend of Nicole Hollander and will introduce the comic creator.
